Less than 24 hours after troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), neutralised several Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters who attempted to unleash violence in Bitta village, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, another major success has been recorded by security forces in the region.
Troops of Sector 2, operating in close collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have intercepted two pick-up vans transporting logistics believed to be meant for Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists within the state.
According to dependable information obtained on Saturday from a credible military source, the operation was launched after actionable human intelligence (HUMINT) tipped off the OPHK headquarters about the movement of the suspected supplies from Dapchi in Yobe State towards the Magumeri axis of Borno State.
The source explained that, acting swiftly on the intelligence, troops were tactically deployed and successfully intercepted the vehicles along the identified route.
A wide range of items was recovered during the operation, including two civilian vehicles, 31 spare tyres, 23 spare rims, two bicycles, 12 ignition key starters, three alternators, two bags of flour, one mattress, five bags of charcoal, 34 tubers of yam, two blankets, two nylon bags of garri, assorted adult and children’s clothing, one power bank, six mobile phones, as well as cash in various denominations.
The drivers transporting the items, alongside the recovered materials, are currently being held in military custody for further questioning. The interrogation is aimed at establishing the level of their involvement and supporting ongoing counter-terrorism investigations.
The source noted that the successful interception highlights the impact of intelligence-led operations and the continued synergy between military personnel and local security partners in disrupting terrorist supply and logistics networks.
He further reaffirmed that troops of OPHK remain steadfast in their determination to restrict terrorist movement, sever their supply chains, and safeguard the lives and property of law-abiding citizens across the North-East.
