Eyewitness accounts have indicated that the road accident involving Nigerian-British boxing sensation, Anthony Joshua, occurred after the vehicle transporting him rammed into a stationary truck along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The incident reportedly took place on Monday in the Makun area of Ogun State, triggering panic among road users and attracting the attention of passersby who rushed to the scene.

According to reports, the world-famous heavyweight boxer was travelling in a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle with registration number KRD 850 HN when the crash happened. While the exact cause of the accident has yet to be officially determined, sources said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances that led to the collision. The impact of the crash was said to be severe, prompting an emergency rescue operation.

A source who participated in the rescue effort disclosed that Anthony Joshua escaped with minor injuries and was promptly attended to. Tragically, however, the source added that two individuals lost their lives instantly at the scene of the accident, casting a shadow over the incident. The identities of the deceased were not immediately made public.
Another eyewitness, identified as Adeniyi Orojo, explained that the accident occurred shortly before Danco Filling Station along the busy expressway, an area known for heavy vehicular movement. His account further corroborated claims that the vehicle struck a truck that was parked by the roadside.
Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the Ogun State Police Command proved unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babasey, did not respond to calls seeking clarification at the time this report was filed.
The accident comes barely days after Joshua recorded a major career victory, defeating Jake Paul in a much-publicised heavyweight bout dubbed “Judgment Day,” held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Kaseya Center in Miami, United States.
