Tinubu Presides Over First FEC Meeting Since June 29

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently presiding over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the State House in Abuja, his first council meeting since June 29, 2026.

The meeting commenced with the national anthem after Tinubu arrived at the Council Chamber at about 2:30pm to preside over the session.

Those attending the meeting include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Didi Walson-Jack; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Ministers, presidential aides and heads of various government agencies are also participating in the meeting.

The council observed a minute’s silence in honour of two former ministers who recently died.

They include Abubakar Alhaji, who served as Minister of Finance during the administration of former military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, and died on July 30, 2026.

The council also honoured Prof Turner Isoun, a former Minister of Science and Technology under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who died on July 15, 2026.

The latest meeting is Tinubu’s first FEC session since June 29, when the council met following a break of more than two months.

At the June meeting, the President swore in two newly appointed Federal Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) shortly before the council session.

The commissioners were Amina Gamawa, representing Bauchi State, and Abdullahi Mukhtar, representing Kaduna State.

Details of the agenda and decisions reached at Wednesday’s FEC meeting are expected to emerge after the session.
