Kebbi Assembly Speaker Muhammad Usman Zuru Dies in Egyptian Hospital After Illness

The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, has died in a hospital in Egypt, where he had been undergoing medical treatment for an illness that was not publicly disclosed.

 

He reportedly passed away on Monday night after battling health challenges for some time. Sources within the Kebbi State Government confirmed the development, although specific details regarding his ailment remain unclear.

 

Until his death, Zuru, who represented the Zuru Constituency, was known as an experienced legislator and played a significant role in the state’s legislative affairs.

 

Reacting to the development, an aide to the governor on Communication and Strategy, Idris Zuru, expressed deep shock over the loss. He described the Speaker’s death as sudden and devastating, noting that it represents a major loss not only to Kebbi State but also to the country at large.

 

He further explained that efforts are still ongoing to obtain comprehensive details surrounding the circumstances of the Speaker’s passing. According to him, the state government will, in due course, issue an official statement and disclose funeral arrangements after consultations with the deceased’s family.

 

More information regarding burial plans is expected to be announced by both the family and the state authorities in the coming days.
