Peter Obi Urges Nigerians to Defend Democracy, Reject One-Party System

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has urged Nigerians to actively protect the country’s democratic system, cautioning against any moves that could lead to the emergence of a one-party state.

In a message shared on his official Facebook page, Obi said members and leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), along with other concerned citizens, are united in their commitment to preserving democratic values in the country.

He noted that the future of Nigeria’s democracy rests on the determination of citizens who prioritise unity, peace, and national stability. According to him, Nigerians must stand firm to ensure that democratic governance is not undermined.

Obi warned against any attempt to establish a one-party system, describing it as a serious threat to political pluralism and the nation’s democratic progress. He called on Nigerians who share these concerns to join efforts aimed at defending the country’s democratic space.

Reaffirming his consistent message of optimism, Obi encouraged citizens to remain hopeful and committed to building a better nation, stressing that meaningful change is still achievable.
