Defence Chief Visits Zamfara, Rallies Troops to Intensify Offensive Against Bandits

The Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, has stated that his recent trip to Zamfara State was aimed at evaluating the performance of troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA and boosting their morale as they continue operations against banditry in the North-West.

Oluyede made his first operational visit to the headquarters of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Gusau, where he met privately with senior military officials. He also addressed troops on the ground and later held discussions with the state governor, Dauda Lawal.

Speaking after the engagements, the defence chief noted that considerable gains had already been made in the fight against banditry across Zamfara and the broader North-West region. He emphasized that the military remains committed to sustaining the progress until criminal groups are completely dismantled.

He further urged troops to intensify their operations by targeting the hideouts of bandits and neutralising them, stressing the importance of restoring peace and security in affected communities.

Oluyede also praised Governor Lawal for his continued support, particularly the provision of armoured vehicles to strengthen military operations in the state. He described such cooperation as crucial to achieving lasting success.

In addition, he called on residents of Zamfara and neighbouring areas to assist security forces by providing reliable intelligence, noting that public cooperation is essential in effectively combating banditry and ensuring safety across the region.
