Kanu Dissolves IPOB Directorate, Unveils New Global Leadership Structure

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has announced a major reorganisation of the group’s leadership structure, dissolving its third Directorate of State and inaugurating a new fourth administration with several fresh appointments across key offices and regions.

 

Kanu, who is currently being held in detention over treason-related charges, said the restructuring takes immediate effect and is intended to enhance the organisation’s administration, improve coordination among members and strengthen operational efficiency.

 

According to him, the decision followed an assessment of the previous leadership arrangement, as well as concerns relating to internal management and the welfare of members.

 

Under the new structure, U.S.-based Mazi Chris Nwaọgụ was appointed Head of the Directorate of State, while Mazi Solomon Egbo was named Deputy Head of the Directorate.

 

Other key appointments include Nwada Ogwu Nnennaya Anya I. as Head of Finance and Budget Planning, Mazi Chigozie Okekenta as Coordinator of Coordinators (COC), Dr. Chukwudi Nwogwugwu as Head of Medical and Welfare Planning, and Barrister Ikechukwu Onuoha as Head of Media and Publicity. Comrade Emma Powerful was also retained as the organisation’s spokesperson and Media and Publicity Secretary.

 

Kanu further announced the appointment of regional and continental representatives to oversee the group’s activities across different parts of the world. Mazi Teri Nemi was named African Continental Representative, while Mazi Ndidi Awurum and Mazi Tochukwu Ikwuanusi were appointed North American Continental Representatives. Mazi George Umeh emerged as the European Continental Representative.

 

In addition, Nwada Oyitaghan Ejiro was appointed Deputy European Continental Representative, while Mazi Ace Ndulor-Egbulem was named Canada National Coordinator.

 

The new leadership list also includes Mazi Chukwuemeka Anoliefo as Asia Continental Representative, Mazi Prince Chimezie Alozie as Middle East Continental Representative, and Nwada Bridget Okafor as the group’s Woman Leader.

 

For diplomatic responsibilities, Mrs. Rachel Nwosu was appointed Israel Diplomatic Representative to Nnamdi Kanu, Mr. Michael Statter was named UK Diplomatic Representative, Mr. Mike Arnold became U.S. Diplomatic Representative, while Mrs. Mercy Statter was appointed European Women Coordinator.

 

Kanu also approved several country-specific appointments. Mazi Abraham Ogbenna was named Germany National Coordinator, with Mazi Charles Okeke serving as Deputy National Coordinator. In Italy, Mazi Romanus Obichukwukamadu Uguru was appointed National Coordinator, while Mazi Shedrack Nwafor became Deputy National Coordinator. Mazi Simon Chibueze and Mazi Christopher Aka were named Switzerland National Coordinator and Deputy National Coordinator respectively, while Mazi Paul Achebe was appointed Public Relations Officer for Italy.

 

The IPOB leader called on members across the globe to support the newly constituted leadership team and align with the revised structure, stressing that the reorganisation is aimed at promoting discipline, restoring cohesion and improving unity within the movement.
