Okpebholo Nominates Enugu-Born Businessman Martin Oli as Edo Commissioner

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the nomination of businessman and politician, Martin Anayochukwu Oli, as a commissioner-designate in the state.

The nomination was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.

 

According to the statement, the governor has forwarded Oli’s name to the Edo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation in line with constitutional requirements.

 

The state government described the nominee, who hails from Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, as an accomplished businessman and politician with a distinguished record of community service, grassroots mobilisation and socio-economic development.

 

It noted that Oli has made significant contributions to initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of communities and promoting inclusive development, earning him recognition as one of the prominent leaders of the Igbo community resident in Edo State.

 

The statement further highlighted his achievements in the private sector, stating that through his business and political engagements, he has consistently championed development-oriented initiatives while demonstrating effective leadership and commitment to public service.

 

According to the government, the nomination reflects Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to fostering inclusiveness, unity and broad-based participation in governance by ensuring that qualified individuals from diverse backgrounds contribute to the development of the state.

 

The administration reiterated its resolve to harness the expertise, experience and contributions of individuals committed to the progress of Edo State, irrespective of their ethnic origin or background.

 

If confirmed by the Edo State House of Assembly, Oli will join the State Executive Council as part of Governor Okpebholo’s efforts to strengthen governance and accelerate the delivery of his administration’s development agenda.

 

His nomination is subject to screening and confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly.
