The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has warned Nigerians and foreign nationals to use only its official online platforms for passport and visa applications, stressing that it has not authorised any religious organisation, private company or individual to collect payments on its behalf.

The Service issued the warning in a statement posted on its official X account on Wednesday, urging applicants to avoid fraudulent intermediaries and transact only through its verified digital portals.

According to the NIS, Nigerians applying for passports, whether within the country or abroad, should make payments exclusively through its official passport portal, while foreigners seeking Nigerian visas are required to use the designated official visa platforms.

“The Nigeria Immigration Service wishes to reiterate that the only authorised platform for passport payments for Nigerians (at home and in diaspora) is https://passport.immigration.gov.ng.

“For foreigners wishing to apply for visa, https://visa.immigration.gov.ng (for visa at the Embassy) and https://evisa.immigration.gov.ng (for e-visa) are the official links.

“At no time has the Service partnered with or authorised any religious organisation, private entity or individual to act as intermediary or receiving account on its behalf,” the statement read.

The Service advised applicants requiring clarification or assistance with passport or visa applications to contact its verified communication channels rather than relying on third parties.

It listed its official X handles as @nigimmigration and @InquireAtNaija, while its verified Facebook and Instagram accounts are @nigimmigration.

The NIS also provided WhatsApp support numbers 09160878000 and 09117717772 for enquiries and assistance.

Reaffirming its commitment to a secure and transparent application process, the Service urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudsters posing as authorised agents.
