The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has denied allegations linking the party, its leaders and the state administration to political violence in Nkanu West Local Government Area.

The party, in a statement by its State Publicity Secretary, Chief Uche Obute, described the allegations as false, misleading and politically motivated.

The APC called on security and law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident, identify those responsible and ensure that anyone found culpable is prosecuted.

The party said it had nothing to fear from a transparent investigation and reaffirmed its commitment to democracy, justice and the rule of law.

The APC also rejected allegations linking Governor Peter Mbah to the incident, arguing that his administration had consistently prioritised the security and welfare of residents.

It urged opposition parties and other political actors to refrain from spreading misinformation and making unsubstantiated accusations capable of heightening political tension in the state.

The party further appealed to its members and supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, stressing that political disagreements should be addressed through lawful and democratic means.

The development followed an attack on a National Democratic Congress political gathering in Nkanu West, during which the opposition party reported that members were injured. The police have confirmed the incident and commenced an investigation.
