In a major political movement ahead of the 2027 general elections, Comrade Chidiebere Aniagu, the South-East Chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), has officially declared his intention to contest for the Enugu North and South Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives under the platform of the Young Progressives Party (YPP).
Addressing a massive gathering of enthusiastic supporters, transport workers, market women, energetic youths, and community leaders in Enugu, Aniagu made it clear that his political ambition is rooted in deep concern for the welfare of his constituents rather than personal gain. He assured the public that he is stepping into the race to transform the narrative of governance and bring real, tangible development to the people who have long felt abandoned by distant leadership.
Leveraging his extensive track record as a prominent figure in the regional transport sector, Aniagu emphasized his proven capacity to empower communities independently of government funds. Having successfully resolved complex disputes and created widespread employment through his leadership at RTEAN, he expressed confidence that accessing federal resources would allow him to elevate community development to unprecedented heights.
He highlighted the glaring deficit of basic amenities, motorable roads, functional primary healthcare centers, and youth empowerment within the commercial hub of Enugu North and South, promising to leverage his federal office to usher in a strong national presence.
Outlining a comprehensive 5-point developmental blueprint tagged “From Representation To Development,” the YPP aspirant promised to focus on youth and women empowerment, educational support through scholarships and infrastructure upgrades, aggressive advocacy for federal infrastructure, regular medical outreaches, and absolute financial accountability through quarterly town hall meetings.
Dismissing concerns regarding the heavy influence of money in local politics, Aniagu declared that genuine elections rely on public trust, leadership credentials, and authentic grassroots support rather than deep pockets. With his campaign rallying around a “People First” approach, momentum continues to build across the constituency as local voters increasingly align behind his vision for community-centered representation.
