NNPP National Chairman Alleges APC is Inciting Crises in Opposition Parties to Maintain Power Past 2027

Ajuji Ahmed, the National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has voiced concerns about the tactics employed by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to maintain its power beyond 2027. He claimed that the APC is deliberately inciting conflicts within certain opposition parties as part of its strategy to secure victory in the upcoming general elections.

Speaking in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, during the NNPP’s governorship campaign kickoff, Ahmed emphasized that the ruling party is taking extensive measures to ensure its continued dominance in Nigeria’s political landscape. He suggested that the APC is instigating turmoil within opposition groups, thereby undermining their unity and effectiveness.

Ahmed stressed the importance of integrity among opposition parties, urging them to remain united and robust to effectively challenge the APC before and after the 2027 elections. He expressed the NNPP’s willingness to collaborate with other political entities to form a coalition aimed at displacing the APC from power. Ahmed asserted that the APC should be prepared to relinquish power following President Bola Tinubu’s administration, indicating that the NNPP has already been engaging with other opposition parties to solidify this alliance.

Furthermore, he called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a fair playing field for all parties participating in the elections scheduled for November 16. He encouraged voters to support the NNPP candidate, Olugbenga Edema, urging them to protect their votes diligently. Ahmed described Edema as a committed party member whose proposed policies aim to alleviate the economic struggles currently faced by the state’s residents, which he attributed to the APC’s governance.

In his address, Edema reinforced the idea that the NNPP is poised to excel in the forthcoming elections. He urged the people of Ondo State to remain vigilant against any attempts to manipulate the election results, drawing parallels with past electoral fraud incidents in other states. Edema asserted that the people of Ondo are politically astute and capable of safeguarding their votes, expressing confidence that they would not be intimidated by any external pressures.
