Kaduna Police Arrest 523 Suspects, Rescue 102 Kidnap Victims in Two Months of Crime-Fighting Operations

The Kaduna State Police Command reported the arrest of 523 individuals for various crimes across the state between October and November 2024. Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Abdullahi shared the details during a press briefing on Monday, highlighting the Command’s commitment to public safety through proactive policing and community collaboration.

The arrests covered offenses such as kidnapping, cattle rustling, phone snatching, and rape. Among the seized items were five AK-47 rifles, two pistols, a submachine gun, 283 rustled cows, and 105 rounds of live ammunition. Abdullahi revealed that 102 kidnapped victims were rescued during these operations. Notably, on November 24, police thwarted a kidnapping attempt, rescuing 89 victims and recovering a fabricated AK-47 rifle with five rounds of ammunition.

The Commissioner credited these successes to the professionalism of the Command’s personnel and public support. He highlighted the arrests of a notorious kidnapper, members of a high-profile kidnapping syndicate, and a suspected cattle rustler, as well as the recovery of weapons, charms, and stolen tricycles. The Command also apprehended six suspected kidnappers and rescued two more victims in separate incidents.

Efforts to combat crime during the “ember months” included raiding criminal hotspots and apprehending over 350 suspects, including phone snatchers and Sara Suka gang members. Abdullahi reaffirmed the police’s dedication to maintaining law and order and commended the public for their cooperation. The Command urged continued public support in reducing crime and ensuring community safety, emphasizing a shared commitment to protecting Kaduna State residents.
