Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially presented the certificate of office to Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, confirming him as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo. The historic event, held on Monday at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan, marked the formal installation of the new monarch. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, traditional rulers, government officials, and residents of Oyo, all gathered to witness the symbolic occasion.

During the presentation, Governor Makinde described Oba Owoade as a leader well-equipped to preserve and promote the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Oyo Kingdom. He highlighted the significant role of the Alaafin not only as a traditional ruler but also as a custodian of Oyo’s traditions and history. The governor expressed confidence that the new monarch would govern with wisdom, integrity, and a focus on uniting the kingdom.
