Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has criticized the All Progressives Congress for naming Senate President Ahmed Lawan as its consensus candidate. This was contained in a press release headlined “Abdullahi Adamu on his own fun” on Monday.
It was reported on Monday that the APC National Working Committee was divided over the declaration of Lawan as the party’s consensus candidate.
The message stated, “My attention has just been brought to the costly joke allegedly perpetrated by Senator Abdullahi Adamu, National Chairman of the APC.”
Speculation abounds that the Chairman had a moment of madness and decided to make a statement that was beyond his capabilities.
“He has purportedly made public his favored candidate for the APC presidential nomination in the upcoming general elections.
“This alleged statement contradicts the attitude of the majority of APC governors from the North and their counterparts from the South. On this matter, there is unanimity of opinion.
“If the effort to find a consensus candidate fails, the Presidency should be fought by capable individuals from the South. There has been no change to this resolved matter.
“Let it be known that the Chairman or anyone with an opposing view does so on a personal level. He is, at best, engaging in an activity that reasonable people would consider risky. “
Although we are in mourning, we have not forgotten that power MUST transfer to the south. “This is our basis for standing.”
