——- Says tactical and strategic approach should be adopted in the quest for Nigeria’s presidency.
The State Deputy Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Enugu State and Chairman South East Disciplinary Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Steve Oruruo made this known while speaking on the topic “ Continuous Voter Registration and the Continuity of Tomorrow is Here Mantra: A Periscope,” on the programme, Beyond the Headlines on Freedom Square TV, anchored by Uchenna Cyril Anioke.
The legal luminary stressed that political power in Nigeria is often achieved through alignment, negotiation, and coalition building rather than sentiment alone.
According to him, “ it was rational that power should go to the South East, but unfortunately the biggest parties at the national level for what reason best known to them, the opportunity was squandered and the conscience of the Nation also refused, to accept the Igbo man to be president and that gave rise to the masses support of Peter Obi. Igbo’s should support a Northern candidate so that when it comes to South ,we can take it this time by the grace of God.”
Oruruo stated that Igbo people must “cue on the line” by carefully studying the political landscape, forging alliances, and engaging in purposeful dialogue with other regions.
He emphasized that only through strategic positioning can the South East realize its long-standing aspiration of producing the nation’s president.
He therefore noted that political inclusivity remains essential for Nigeria’s unity, urging leaders from the region to demonstrate patience, tact, and unity of purpose in the pursuit of national leadership
