The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked the rumors making rounds that it has zoned its presidential ticket by asserting that it has not zone the ticket to any part of the country.
Recall that there were claims from some segment of the media that the leadership of APC is working towards zoning its presidential ticket to the Northeast, with the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, likely to emerge as its presidential candidate for the upcoming 2023 general election.
Setting the record straight, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, said that there is no such decision made by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the paraty. However, according to the reviewed timetable he released on Wednesday, the APC will now hold its special convention to elect its presidential candidate on May 29 and 30 as against the June 3 deadline given to all political parties to conduct its primaries by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
