The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has approved a fresh round of appointments into his campaign organisation as preparations intensify for the 2027 governorship election.
The appointments come shortly after the announcement of Chief Yemi Aderibigbe as Director-General of the Campaign Organisation, a move the APC candidate said underscores his commitment to building an inclusive and effective campaign structure.
Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the Senate, disclosed the appointments in a statement issued on Thursday in Ibadan.
Under the new arrangement, Hon. Sola Ogunbode has been appointed Deputy Director-General to assist in coordinating campaign activities across the state.
The campaign organisation also named three Assistant Directors-General to oversee the state’s senatorial districts. Barrister Lowo Obisesan will coordinate Oyo South, Rt. Hon. Asimiyu Alarape will supervise Oyo Central, while Hon. Rasaq Raji has been assigned responsibility for Oyo North.
According to the statement, the appointments are aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation, improving coordination across the three senatorial districts and positioning the APC for victory in the 2027 governorship election.
Alli expressed confidence in the capacity of the appointees, describing them as experienced politicians with proven leadership credentials.
He assured party members that the campaign would be inclusive and provide opportunities for all stakeholders to participate.
“Let me assure all our party men and women that this campaign will be all-inclusive. No one will be left behind. Every ward, every local government, every interest group within our party has a role to play in this project.
“We are one APC family. The task ahead is huge, but with unity of purpose, we will achieve it together,” he said.
The newly appointed officials bring extensive political experience to the campaign.
Hon. Rasaq Raji is a prominent grassroots politician and APC chieftain from Igbeti in Olorunsogo Local Government Area.
Rt. Hon. Asimiyu Alarape, a metallurgical engineering graduate, served as Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly between 1999 and 2003 and later as Minority Leader from 2019 to 2023. He also served as Special Adviser during the administration of the late Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala.
Barrister Lowo Obisesan, a legal practitioner and Ibadan senior chief, previously served as Commissioner for Environment under the administration of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi and is the founder of Black & White Law Chamber.
The appointments are expected to enhance the APC’s campaign machinery as political parties begin early preparations ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.
