APC’s Nicholas Ukachukwu Vows to Win Anambra for Tinubu, Says One-Party Rule Must End

Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming Anambra State election scheduled for November 8, has pledged his commitment to ensuring the APC secures victory in the state. Following a meeting at the Presidential Villa, where he and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, received the party flag from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ukachukwu spoke with State House Correspondents, expressing confidence in their mission.

According to Ukachukwu, President Tinubu tasked him and his deputy with the responsibility of bringing Anambra State into alignment with the federal government by winning the governorship for the APC. He emphasized that it is time for Anambra to break free from its current one-party dominance and become more politically inclusive. Recalling the President’s recent visit to Anambra, Ukachukwu noted that Tinubu was impressed by the enthusiasm and large turnout of APC supporters during the visit, a sign of growing support for the party in the state.

Ukachukwu also expressed confidence in the chances of the APC, stating that both he and his running mate were influential figures in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) before joining the APC. He said their defection, along with their supporters, has significantly weakened APGA’s influence. Furthermore, he revealed that numerous other political groups—including members from the Labour Party, the Young Progressives Party (YPP), and over 80 support organizations—have aligned with their campaign, strengthening the APC’s base in Anambra.

He concluded by stressing that it is not unprecedented for incumbent parties to lose elections, citing examples in Zamfara, Imo, and even Anambra itself, adding that such outcomes are possible when there is strong political will and grassroots mobilization.
