Appeal Court Affirms PDP Leadership, Dismisses Wabara-Led BoT Appeal

The Court of Appeal has unanimously upheld the dismissal of a suit instituted by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT), in a ruling the party says reinforces the legitimacy of its recognised leadership.

The PDP disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed.

The suit was instituted by the group led by Senator Adolphus Wabara, alongside Professor Jerry Gana, Babangida Muazu Aliyu, Maryam Inna Ciroma and others operating under what the party described as an interim National Working Committee led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN.

According to the statement, the appellate court affirmed the earlier judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which dismissed the suit, and awarded additional costs against the appellants.

The PDP described the ruling as a victory for the rule of law and the supremacy of its constitution, saying it further affirmed the leadership of the National Working Committee headed by Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman and Senator Samuel N. Anyanwu as National Secretary.

The party said the judgment should resolve lingering questions over the legitimacy of its recognised leadership and reinforce the need for its affairs to be conducted in line with its constitution and established procedures.

It urged members, leaders and stakeholders to respect the court’s decision, close ranks and focus on rebuilding the party, strengthening internal cohesion and preparing for future political engagements.

The statement added that the party must rise above factional interests and divisive tendencies, stressing that its collective responsibility was to restore unity and reposition the PDP as a credible alternative for Nigerians.

“The PDP is moving forward, stronger and more united,” the statement said.
