Atiku Abubakar Meets Obasanjo in Abeokuta Amid Speculations of 2027 Political Alliance

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar recently paid a notable visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State. His arrival, precisely at 12:36 p.m., was met with a warm reception by Otunba Oyewole Fasawe, a longtime associate of Obasanjo. Atiku was not alone; he was accompanied by several influential political figures, including former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke, former Sokoto State Governor Senator Aminu Tambuwal, and Senator Abdul Ningi, who represents Bauchi Central.

Upon reaching the venue, Atiku promptly proceeded to a private meeting with Obasanjo. Reports from *Daily Trust* indicate that the discussion, which took place behind closed doors, lasted for over an hour and a half. When the meeting concluded at approximately 2:11 p.m., Atiku addressed journalists but refrained from delving into political matters despite their persistent inquiries. Instead, he emphasized that his visit was purely one of courtesy, making it clear that he had no intention of discussing politics. “It’s just a courtesy visit, please. I am not going to talk about politics,” he stated.

This visit comes at a time when Atiku and key figures from opposition parties have reportedly been engaging in discussions about the possibility of forming a political alliance in preparation for the 2027 elections. Although details of his conversation with Obasanjo remain undisclosed, the meeting has sparked speculation regarding potential political realignments in the near future.
