In a dramatic turn of events, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) ESUT branch has declared a 2-week warning strike, effective today, October 13, 2025. This decision follows the Federal Government’s failure to address the outstanding issues contained in the negotiated document.
NO ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES WILL BE TOLERATED
During the strike period, all academic activities will be suspended, and any attempts to engage in such activities will be met with strict consequences. A special monitoring team has been set up to enforce this order, and any violators will be identified, reported to the national body and dealt with according, inline with ASUU guidelines.
ASUU ESUT TAKES A FIRM STAND
We are committed to ensuring that our welfare and general conditions of service are addressed, and we believe that this strike action is necessary to achieve these objectives. We will not be silenced or deterred from fighting for our rights.
TOTAL COMPLIANCE DEMANDED
We urge all members to adhere to the national directives and join the strike. Any attempts to disrupt the union’s activities will be dealt with accordingly.
THE STRIKE WILL BE PEACEFUL BUT FIRM
We are determined to make this strike a success and will take all necessary steps to ensure that our demands are met. We will not back down until our demands are met.
STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER DIRECTIVES
We will keep you updated on the progress of the strike. In the meantime, all academic activities remain suspended until further notice.
UNITED WE BARGAIN, DIVIDED WE BEG
Sincerely,
ASUU Esut management
