BREAKING NEWS: Chief Chekwas Okorie quits partisan politics

……I Quit Partisan Politics says Chief Chekwas Okorie

A Frontline Igbo politician, Chief Chekwas Okorie, Convener, Igbo Agenda Dialogue 2025, who is also the founder and Pioneer National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) announced his formal withdrawal from partisan politics

Chief Okorie made this known while appearing on a popular TV program, Beyond the Headlines on Freedom Square TV, anchored by Uchenna Cyril Anioke.

Chief Okorie who has been a consistent voice in Nigeria’s democratic journey since the return to civil rule in 1999, said his decision was born out of deep reflection on the current political realities in the country. He noted that while he is stepping aside from active partisan engagement, he will continue to contribute to national discourse, advocacy, and the struggle for equity and justice for the Igbo people.

According to him “My part in partisanship is over,I have voluntarily discontinued partisanship in other to be in a position to play new roles that God has asked me to play in the remainder of my life”

He therefore stressed that his withdrawal does not mean silence, but rather a repositioning to play the role of an elder statesman and political strategist outside the confines of party politics.

Okorie, who was instrumental in the formation of APGA and later played active roles in other political platforms, reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria’s unity, restructuring, and the empowerment of the South-East in national politics.

He urged younger generations to take up the mantle of leadership with courage, vision, and unity of purpose, warning that lamentation without action will not deliver political power to the Igbo.
