Chief Frank Nweke Jr, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate for the 2023 elections, has expressed his shock and sadness over the murder of the party’s former governorship aspirant, Mr Dons Udeh, in Enugu. In a statement made available to the press on Thursday, Nweke described the killing as a sad and deplorable incident.
He expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Mr Udeh, stating that he was heartbroken to see another prominent son of Ozalla attacked in such a brutal manner. Nweke went on to note that the murder of Mr Udeh was one too many, and called for better societal values and definitive actions from political leadership and security outfits to tackle the high level of insecurity across the state and Nigeria.
The APGA governorship candidate urged the security agencies and all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the murder, and previous attacks that remain unresolved in the state, are treated with utmost urgency. He also called for the perpetrators to be brought to book, and for sanity to be restored in the state.
Nweke emphasized that no one has the right to take another human life, and that this madness must be stopped. He urged society to return to the values that make us human, and called for an end to the debasement of human life.
The murder of Mr Udeh is just one in a series of violent incidents that have plagued Enugu and other parts of Nigeria in recent years. The high level of insecurity has led to widespread concern among citizens, and calls for action from political leaders and security agencies have grown louder.
In response to the escalating violence, the federal government has launched various security operations across the country. However, many citizens argue that these efforts have not been enough, and that more needs to be done to address the root causes of insecurity in Nigeria.
The murder of Mr Udeh serves as a grim reminder of the urgent need for action to address the security challenges facing the country. It is important for political leaders and security agencies to work together to restore peace and stability in Enugu and other parts of Nigeria, and to ensure that justice is served for victims of violent crimes.
