Court Struck Out Suit To Sack Gov. Umahi, Deputy

The Court of Appeal Enugu Division has on Friday, April 1st, struck out a suit seeking the sack of the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi and his Deputy, Mr. Kelechi Igwe from office for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Recall that the Federal High Court in Abuja had on March 8th,sacked Governor Umahi, his deputy, Kelechi Igwe, and 15 Ebonyi State House of Assembly members for defecting from PDP to APC. In the Abuja court ruling the judge, Inyang Ekwo, had declared the seats of the governor, his deputy, and the 15 lawmakers vacant on the two suites filed against them and had also ordered that they all vacate their offices immediately.

The Enugu Court of Appeal decision now puts to rest the raging controversy as to whether Justice Inyang erred in his earlier judgement going by previous court pronouncements adjudicating similar matters.
