Dim Uche Nnamdi Okwukwu has been elected as the new factional President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. The election took place during a convention held in Port Harcourt on Thursday night, where Okwukwu, a lawyer and former Secretary General of the group, emerged unopposed.
Hailing from Elele in Rivers State, Okwukwu expressed gratitude to the delegates for their confidence in him. He pledged to prioritize the unification of the Igbo community, which has been facing internal divisions. He emphasized that his leadership would focus on addressing the pressing challenges confronting the Igbo people.
Okwukwu outlined his agenda, which includes engaging with the government and influential stakeholders to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu and other political detainees. He also committed to advocating for improved economic opportunities and infrastructural development across Igbo regions, aiming to boost growth and prosperity for the community.
In addition, Okwukwu highlighted the need to tackle security challenges such as kidnapping and violence, which have plagued parts of the region. He also vowed to push for the restructuring of Nigeria to ensure a more inclusive system that benefits all ethnic groups.
