The Enugu State Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and most favored to win 2023 gubernatorial election, Barr. Peter Mbah, on Wednesday gave a peak into his plan for an Afro Disney Tourism Project and other massive infrastructural development agenda for Enugu North zone of the state.
Earnest, soft-spoken and unassuming, Barr. Mbah made the disclosure while on a “thank you” visit to Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area whom he said gave him 100% support to emerge as the number 1 candidate for the Governorship seat.
He said that with the peoples overwhelming mandate, there will be no further procrastination of the party’s development plans, hence they will “get cracking on those plans.”
In his words:
“We are not going to leave any community behind. We are going to compete with all our assets.
“If you look at this locality, you will see that we have what it takes to attract 3 million tourists here every year. We have the topography. There is no place you have a topography as beautiful – the scenery is beautiful – something people will die to come and see.”
To this effect, the plan is to ensure that what they have in Paris, Euro Disney, in Orlando World Disney is in Nsukka. Barr. Mbah, therefore, revealed the plan for Afro Disney in Nsukka – a project that will attract 3 million tourists annually.
Bearing in mind that to achieve such a feat, one must enable such massive investment, Barr. Mbah disclosed that in his agenda is a target to grow the economy of Enugu State from where it stands today at $4.4 billion to $30 billion. This will put Enugu State among the top 3 states in Nigeria in terms of GDP in the next 4 to 8 years.
“$30 billion economy means that we are going to be bigger than an economy of Rwanda. Rwanda with all the nice things you hear about is less than $15 billion economy.
“So, Enugu State is going to be twice the size of the entire Rwanda economy. Lagos with all the great things you hear about, with GDP of $33 billion, we are going to catch up with them,” he said.
Barr. Mbah added that the party is not only PDP in political ideology but also in its developmental agenda. In that regard, the developmental components are Peace, Development, and Prosperity. The plan will ensure integrated program for youth empowerment and employment, massive rural development.
On the peace and security initiative, Barr. Mbah said there will be a community policing system that will include all the citizens in the governance of Enugu State.
He said:
“The truth is that empirical evidence has shown that you can not frankly talk about insecurity without addressing certain root causes. And those root causes are not far from unemployment and poverty. We know that unemployment and poverty engenders insecurity in the communities and everywhere. So we are going to address that.”
He disclosed that Enugu is a coastal state and that there will be a lot of economic impact when the inland waterways transport system is developed.
Barr. Mbah reiterated that his single objective for the visit is to thank the people and to ensure them that they have not made a mistake in picking him as their favored candidate.
Present at the occasion include a former Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo; the PDP Deputy Governorship candidate, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai; the Chairman Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area and other eminent sons and daughters of the zone and beyond.
