Enugu Air Secures Approval for Lagos–London Flights, Begins Bookings Ahead of December Launch

Enugu Air has secured regulatory approval to commence direct flights between Lagos and London Gatwick in December 2026, marking a major step in the airline’s international expansion.

The airline also announced that bookings for the new route are now open, allowing intending passengers to make reservations through its online booking platform.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the airline said the approval would strengthen air connectivity between Nigeria and the United Kingdom while creating new opportunities for travel, trade and investment.

The Lagos–London Gatwick service will be operated in partnership with Omni-Blu Aviation (OBA), which has been designated as the operating partner for the route.

“Enugu Air has received approval for its Lagos–London Gatwick route, with Omni-Blu Aviation (OBA) appointed as the designated operator under a strategic partnership.

“Bookings are now open, and flights will commence in December 2026,” the statement said.

The airline described the development as a major milestone in its expansion, adding that it reflected the vision of Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, to position the state as an emerging gateway for international connectivity, investment, tourism and economic growth.

The announcement comes approximately six weeks after Enugu Air operated its maiden international flight to Douala, Cameroon, on September 23, 2026.

Launched in July 2025, Enugu Air began operations with an initial fleet of three Embraer aircraft comprising the E170 and E190 series.

The airline was established as part of the Mbah administration’s broader transport development strategy, which seeks to integrate air, road and other transport systems while positioning Enugu as a regional aviation hub in West and Central Africa.

The planned Lagos–London operation is expected to expand travel options between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, facilitate business and trade engagements, and strengthen international air links.

However, the airline is yet to disclose further operational details, including flight frequency, departure schedules and ticket prices.
