Enugu Healthcare Transformed as Dr. Chiggy Chiagorom Applauds State Govt, Launches Guinness World Record Attempt

—– Says such initiatives have made quality healthcare more accessible to residents, especially in rural communities.

Healthcare Practitioner, Journalist and Guinness world Records Attemptee, Dr. Chiggy Chiagorom made this known while speaking on the topic “Guinness World Record Attempt in Enugu and Matters Arising,” on the programme, Beyond the Headlines on Freedom Square TV, anchored by Uchenna Cyril Anioke.

Dr. Chiggy Chiagorom, commended the Enugu State Government for its growing commitment to the health sector while unveiling her ambitious Guinness World Record attempt.

Dr. Chiagorom described the state’s healthcare system as “taking a new and promising shape,” noting that recent improvements in facilities, workforce development, and public health awareness are already yielding results.

According to her, “if you look around what is happening in our state, you see a lot of infrastructural developments especially with healthcare. Then I asked myself, how best can I as an individual that is not a public figure but as an individual and an indigene of Enugu State showcase what is happening in my state to Nigeria and the the world. I said okay, that this category (love for state) is good for me and I can talk about what is happening in Enugu State and being predominantly decided, because the conversation is entirely under the purview of a personal attempt of Guinness world Record. Guinness world record does not tell you what to talk about, then I say let’s talk about healthcare, let’s talk about the 260 units primary healthcare facilities that are ongoing across all electoral wards in Enugu state. Let’s talk about renovations happening in the state teaching hospitals, let’s talk about the diagnostic centres, let’s talk about the 300 bedded specialist hospital that is an international standard coming up in Enugu. This is possible in Enugu and one of the things I want to see for my state is to see Enugu State as a tourist site for medical tourism. If someone says, where can I get the best neurologist, the best cardiologist or the best laboratory Centre for testing and diagnosis, the person should be told to come to Enugu because we have the structure, the capacity and the resources. So that inspired me to go for that category. In talking about all this , you also see journalism come to play because you will be doing interviews. You see healthcare come to play but regardless, you try to be more inclusive in it, you know man shall not live by health conversations alone. We also talk about Ai, Insurance, Fintech, we talk about relationships, we talk about entertainment, it cuts across but predominantly it is about health. We even have commissioner for health as one of our interviewees. So these are the major things that inspired me. These are my motivations.”

Dr. Chiagorom praised the state government’s investments in hospitals, primary healthcare centers, and medical personnel. “This is not just about setting a global record; it is about inspiring healthier lifestyles, increasing awareness, and supporting the efforts of the Enugu State Government in building a stronger healthcare system,” Dr. Chiagorom stated.

According to her, the record attempt is expected to draw national and international attention to Enugu State, creating opportunities for partnerships, funding, and innovation in the health sector.

Residents and health stakeholders have welcomed the development, describing it as a timely boost that aligns with the government’s vision of improving public health services and positioning Enugu as a leading healthcare hub in the Southeast.

As preparations for the Guinness World Record attempt continue, many believe the initiative will not only place Enugu State on the global map but also leave a lasting impact on healthcare awareness and service delivery across the state.
