Enugu State is witnessing growing anticipation ahead of the maiden edition of Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026, with the much-anticipated youth engagement programme scheduled to hold in Enugu next Thursday.
The event, convened by the Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission, Hon. Peter Ogbonna Eze, will take place on September 10, 2026, at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.
The programme is themed, “Beyond Quotas: Unlocking Opportunities for Enugu Youths Through the Federal Character Commission.”
The initiative has generated increasing interest among young people across the state, particularly those seeking information and practical guidance on employment, scholarships, grants, fellowships, internships, entrepreneurship and career development.
Eze said the programme was conceived to address one of the major challenges confronting young Nigerians — not necessarily the absence of opportunities, but the difficulty many face in identifying, understanding and accessing them.
According to him, many young people possess the qualifications, skills and determination required to succeed but are disadvantaged by limited access to timely and accurate information about available opportunities.
“Our objective is to help young people understand where legitimate opportunities exist, how to identify them, how to apply, what is required, and how to position themselves for success,” Eze said.
He explained that Peter Eze Youth Connect was designed to bridge the information gap by creating a platform where young people can learn about opportunities and connect with pathways capable of improving their careers and livelihoods.
Unlike conventional youth empowerment programmes that often focus largely on speeches and promises, the initiative is expected to place emphasis on information, access, practical guidance and connections to opportunities.
Areas expected to feature prominently include jobs, scholarships, grants, fellowships, internships, government programmes, private-sector opportunities, digital opportunities, entrepreneurship, career development and leadership.
The programme is expected to attract youths from across the 17 local government areas of Enugu State, including students, graduates, entrepreneurs, job seekers, professionals and young people seeking opportunities for personal and career advancement.
Eze urged young people across the state to take advantage of the platform, stressing that access to the right information, combined with adequate preparation and determination, could significantly improve their chances of success.
He also challenged youths to move beyond waiting for opportunities to come their way and instead develop the skills and capacity required to identify, pursue and secure available opportunities.
With the event scheduled for September 10, growing interest in Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026 is positioning the programme as a potentially significant platform for youth engagement in Enugu.
The initiative is expected to open a wider conversation around youth development by shifting attention from promises to access, from information to action and from waiting for opportunities to actively pursuing them.
