Manchester City have been found guilty of 114 of the 115 financial charges brought against the club by the Premier League, according to a report by The Athletic.

The verdict was delivered by an independent commission following a lengthy investigation into the club’s finances covering the period from 2009 to 2018.

The Premier League charged City in February 2023 after a four-year investigation into alleged breaches of its financial regulations. The charges covered nine seasons and included allegations concerning the provision of accurate financial information and the club’s financial dealings. 

The independent commission found the club guilty on 114 charges, while one charge was dismissed.

Manchester City have consistently denied wrongdoing and maintained that they did not breach the Premier League’s regulations.

Reacting to the verdict, a club spokesperson said the process remained ongoing, with significant elements still to be completed and subject to confidentiality.

“The Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed, and subject to strict confidentiality,” the spokesperson said. 

The club is expected to appeal the commission’s decision.

The verdict does not immediately determine the sanctions Manchester City will face. The punishment will be decided separately, with the next stage of the process focusing on the consequences of the commission’s findings. 

The case is one of the most extensive disciplinary proceedings in Premier League history and has taken several years to reach this stage.
