Ex-Maritime Boss Ferdinand Agu Passes On at Abuja Hospital

Ex-Maritime Boss Ferdinand Agu Passes On at Abuja Hospital:  Mr. Ferdinand Agu, a distinguished Nigerian and former Director General of the National Maritime Authority (NMA),

now known as the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has sadly passed away. Agu’s death

occurred this morning after he suffered a heart attack, just hours after attending a traditional wedding in Abuja on Saturday,

where he was in high spirits until around 9 pm.

Agu’s remarkable life was marked by his dedication to service and his significant contributions to the nation. With a background in Architecture,

he gained extensive experience in the private sector, serving as a consultant to numerous multinational corporations. His expertise

and leadership skills were recognized when he was appointed Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan, a position he held from 2011 to 2015.

Throughout his career, Agu received various awards and recognitions for his outstanding contributions to transportation and maritime development.

Some of these awards include the Award of Excellence by The Conference of Commissioners for Commerce and Industry in Nigeria,

the distinguished National Merit Award in Transportation, and the Most Outstanding Maritime Personality of the Year award.

Agu’s leadership and mentorship extended beyond his professional endeavors. He encouraged young Nigerians to learn from

their elders and discover their unique purpose in serving others. His inspiring quotes, such as “There are times when young people

must break from the crowd and find themselves…to become the leaders we are looking for tomorrow,” will continue to motivate and guide the youth.

Agu’s passing is a devastating loss to the nation, and his contributions to the maritime industry and beyond will be deeply missed.

His legacy, however, will continue to inspire and motivate future generations to strive for excellence and dedicate themselves to the common good.
