The Federal Government of Nigeria has on Wednesday made public its directives in response to the spate of attacks on the Abuja-Kaduna Rail Line.
According to a press release from the presidency, President Muhammadu Buhari had on Tuesday met with Security Chiefs and issued a number of directives.
The first is the immediate conclusion of all processes for implementation of the Integrated Security Surveillance and Monitoring (ISSM) Solution for Abuja-Kaduna Rail Line.
Others are the extension of the ISSM Solution to cover the Lagos-Ibadan Rail Line, rescue of all kidnapped passengers, and a Manhunt for the terrorists, to ensure they are all made to face justice for their criminal acts.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) management was directed to speedily repair the line damaged as a result of the attacks and resume normal rail service without further delay. Also the military was directed to crack down on terrorists and all other criminal elements (like the AK 47-wielding herdsmen) so that they do not hold the country to ransom.
Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in the company of the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, visited the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna, to condole with victims of the terrorist attack.
Similarly, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Ameachi, and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya along with other government officials have made separate visits to the scene of the Kaduna-Abuja train attack.
