She stressed that Africa must look inward for solutions, starting with the right education for its youths, to optimize its abundant natural resources and drive human capital development.

Mrs. Tinubu argued that Africa has the potential to solve its own challenges and that it’s time for the continent to strengthen its bond of brotherhood for development. She emphasized the need for education as a tool for development and encouraged youths to take advantage of opportunities to equip themselves for the future.

The First Lady also highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to bringing Africa to its rightful place among the continents, saying that Nigerians are now more accountable and seeking respect for their country. She acknowledged the historical diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Burundi, which have maintained relations since gaining independence in the 1960s.

Ambassador Nduwimana expressed gratitude for Mrs. Tinubu’s interest and support for education, noting that Burundi has made significant progress in peace and development under its current president’s leadership. He highlighted the establishment of a commission for peace and reconciliation and the country’s vision for 2040 and 2060.

The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between African countries in areas such as peace and security, trade, and diplomacy. Nigeria and Burundi have explored opportunities in trade and economic cooperation, with potential for growth in trade volumes.
