South-East Academic Doctors Urges Immediate Correction of Anomalies

South-East Academic Doctors Urges Immediate Correction of Anomalies: The Forum of South-East Academic Doctors (FOSAD)

has appealed to the management of institutions of higher learning in the Southeast to urgently address and correct anomalies

within academic environments, including issues such as student victimization and sexual harassment. FOSAD pledges its full support and confidence in the leadership of these institutions to implement necessary changes that will foster a safe and conducive learning atmosphere.

FOSAD’s Urgent Recommendations:

1. Thorough Investigations: Immediate and transparent investigations into all reported cases of victimization and harassment.

Establish clear and accessible channels for students, faculty and staff to report grievances without fear of retribution.

2. Implementation of Robust Policies: Enforce strict policies against victimization and harassment. Ensure these policies are well-publicized and that students, faculty, and staff are fully aware of the consequences of such actions.

3. Strengthened Support Systems: Develop comprehensive support systems, including counseling and legal support, for victims.

Ensure that these resources are readily available and accessible to all students, faculty and staff.

4. Mandatory Training Programs: Introduce mandatory training for all students, faculty and staff on ethical behavior, anti-harassment protocols, and the importance of maintaining a supportive academic environment. Conduct regular awareness programs for students about their rights and available support services.

5. Regular Monitoring: Create independent bodies to monitor the implementation of these policies and the overall academic environment.

Regular audits and feedback mechanisms should be established to ensure continuous improvement.
