Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State on Monday vowed not to allow terrorists, aka bandits, set up and maintain camps in Plateau with which to continue attacking innocent people in the State.
The governor made the vow in a press briefing with newsmen in Jos through his Director of Press, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, following deadly attacks by terrorist popularly known as bandits in Plateau villages.
Terrorist had invaded several communities: Kukawa, Gyambawu, Dungur, Kyaram, Yelwa, Dadda, Wanka, Shuwaka, Gwammadaji and Dadin Kowa villages of Garga, in Kanam and Wase Local Government Areas of Plateau State on Sunday where they killed over 100 people and burned many houses and other properties. Many were also gravely injured in the attack and are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals.
Gov. Lalong who has witnessed many of such attack by Fulani herdsmen and their other bandit affiliates on mostly indigenous farmers, once more ordered security forces to immediately go after the terrorists who seem to now operate freely in the North-Central and other parts of the country.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, ASP Ubah Gabriel, has informed the public that men of the command have since been deployed to the affected communities to restore peace and order. How long the said peace and order will endure remains to be seen.
