Governor Mbah Overhauls Enugu Cabinet, Names New Commissioners, Board Chairmen, Top Officials

Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has approved a fresh round of appointments and cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening governance, improving efficiency, and accelerating service delivery across the state.

 

The appointments were announced on Wednesday in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Chidiebere Onyia, who explained that the selections followed careful consideration by the governor.

 

According to the statement, Barrister Osinachi Nnajieze and Dr. C. O. C. Egumgbe have been appointed as commissioners-designate. Their nominations have been forwarded to the Enugu State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

 

Governor Mbah also approved several senior administrative appointments. Kenechukwu Nnamani was named Managing Director of the Enugu State Investment Development Authority (ENSIDA), while James Chukwuemeka Mbah was appointed Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board.

 

Other appointments include Dr. Eric Oluedo as Executive Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pensions Board; Mrs. Sylvia Onwubuemeli as Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Library Board; and Monday Diamond Ani as State Coordinator of the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA).

 

In the education sector, the governor reconstituted the Governing Board of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB). Members of the new board include Hon. Afam Nnaji, Dr. Mrs. Uche Eze, Dr. Mrs. Oge Uka, Mrs. Rita Chimaobi Ihemeje (Enugu West), Mrs. Justina Ugwu (Enugu North), Dr. Nnenna Ogbonna (Enugu East), Theophilus Nweke representing the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and Mrs. Juliet Ifesinachi Ani representing the State Women Group. Dr. Luke Ohabuenyi Ezema was appointed Secretary of the board.

 

Further appointments saw Dr. Mrs. Nneka Onyebuchi and Patrick Onwe named members of the Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB). Barrister Nwabueze Ugwu was appointed Chairman of the Governing Council of the Enugu State College of Education Technical (ESCET), while Chief Nwabueze Nnamani emerged as Board Chairman of the Enugu State Housing Development Corporation (ESHDC).

 

In the transport, infrastructure, and environment sectors, Richard Onaga was appointed Managing Director of the Enugu State Waste Management Agency (ESWAMA); Hon. Bob Itanyi as Managing Director of the Enugu State Transport Company (ENTRACO); and Barrister Richard Agu as Board Chairman of Enugu Air. Rt. Hon. USA Igwesi was named Board Chairman of the New Enugu Smart City Development Authority, while Hon. Chika Igwesi was appointed Chairman of the Enugu State Road Maintenance and Development Agency.

 

The governor also approved Hon. Chidera Odo as Chairman and Hon. Barrister Manfred Nzekwe as Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Roads Fund. Dr. John Egbo and Hon. Prince Emeka Mamah were appointed Managing Directors of the Enugu East and Enugu North Zone Transport Terminals respectively, while Rev. Chimaobi Aninwene was named a member of the Enugu State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.

 

Professor Onyia stated that while the commissioners designate will assume office after confirmation by the House of Assembly, all other appointments take immediate effect.
