Gunmen in Military Uniform Abduct 20 in Abuja’s Dawaki Community: Armed gunmen, reportedly wearing military uniforms, have carried out a brazen attack on
the Dawaki community in Abuja, abducting at least 20 people. The incident, which occurred on
Sunday evening, has left residents in a state of fear and panic. The attackers, who were described
as bandits, armed robbers, and terrorists, stormed the community around 7:30 pm and operated for
over an hour, shooting sporadically and abducting residents from three houses and the street.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers wore face masks and uniforms, but their genuineness
was questioned when they started shooting indiscriminately. The community, which is located opposite
the Gwarinpa Estate, is a heavily populated neighborhood with thousands of workers living there.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, confirmed the incident and said that he led the rescue operation on Sunday,
which resulted in a fierce gun battle with the hoodlums. He said that some of the abducted victims were rescued and are
receiving medical attention in the hospital.
The attack on Dawaki community is the latest in a series of daring onslaughts by armed criminals in
Abuja, which has left residents worried about their safety. Just a few days ago, kidnappers attacked Shagari Quarters in
Dei-Dei, abducting the family of a Customs officer.
the Abuja Residents
Residents of Abuja are concerned about the resurgence of attacks by sundry criminals, which they believe is a result of
the withdrawal of security operatives from the city. Some estates have started buying guns for their vigilantes to provide
additional security, while others are contributing money to fix police patrol vehicles to ensure their safety.
The traditional ruler of Dakwa community, Dr. Alhassan Musa Babachukuri, has called on the government to take serious
action against the bandits, who have created a base behind the Zuma Rock in Chachi community near Dakawa in neighboring Niger State.
He said that the bandits have been terrorizing residents of Abuja, and it is time for the government to take decisive action to stop them.
