where suspected hoodlums set fire to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (Champion Zonal Headquarters). This is the second time the church has been targeted in the past ten years,
with the perpetrators vowing to prevent its completion due to a disputed location.
The attack has been widely condemned by state officials, including
Governor Muhammed Umaru Bago and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Chairman, Most Reverend Bulus Dauwa Yohanna. Governor Bago described the act as
“mindless, barbaric, and cowardly,” emphasizing that the government
prioritizes the safety and security of all citizens, regardless of their religious beliefs.

Assistant Pastor Samson Ogbebor reported that the church has faced
numerous challenges, including a previous arson attack ten years ago, and has been subject to repeated attempts to prevent its completion.
The incident has sparked concerns about religious tolerance and the
need for peaceful coexistence in Niger state. Governor Bago has directed
security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that
those responsible are prosecuted. The government has also urged citizens
