Nze Magnus Eze, the South-East Bureau Chief of The Sun Newspaper, has been appointed Special Assistant on Communications and New Media to Iyom Bianca Ojukwu, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. His appointment was formalized in a letter dated January 8, 2025, signed by Ambassador Bello Kazaure Husseini, Director of Administration at the Ministry. Eze, a veteran journalist with extensive experience and a wide network in the media industry, is expected to play a crucial role in advancing the communication strategies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s foreign policy agenda. This policy, encapsulated in the “4-Ds” framework—Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora—aims to enhance Nigeria’s global engagements.
Born on June 25, 1969, in Mgbom N’Achara, Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Eze began his education at Ikwuano Primary School and later attended Eziokposi High School, where he graduated in 1987. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts from the University of Uyo in 1992 and a Master’s degree in Mass Communication from Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), where he is also pursuing his doctorate. After completing his National Youth Service at the Ogun State Polytechnic, he launched his media career with Newswatch Magazine.
Eze’s career spans nearly three decades, with roles such as Editor of Newsday Newspaper, Deputy Editor of Newsworld Magazine, and Regional Correspondent for South Africa-based AU Media. He is currently an Assistant Editor and South-East Bureau Chief at The Sun Newspaper.
Beyond journalism, Eze has contributed to community development through The Mezie Okposi Organisation, which supports leadership training, cultural preservation, and community service. He is married to Anenechi Eze, and they have five children.
