Jerry Gana Declares Goodluck Jonathan Set to Contest 2027 Presidency Under PDP

Former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, has expressed confidence that former President Goodluck Jonathan will return to contest the presidency in 2027 under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking during an event in Minna, Niger State, Gana asserted that there is a growing national desire for Jonathan’s leadership to be restored, citing his reputation as a dependable leader who prioritized the welfare of the people during his time in office.

Gana, who serves on the PDP Board of Trustees, emphasized that the party would readily support Jonathan’s candidacy, describing the offer of the 2027 presidential ticket as one that will be handed to him “on a platter of gold.” He firmly stated that Jonathan would indeed run for president and encouraged Nigerians to support his return.

Reflecting on Jonathan’s actions during the 2015 elections, Gana praised him for peacefully conceding defeat and congratulating his opponent even before official results were declared. He portrayed this gesture as a testament to Jonathan’s commitment to national unity, contrasting it with the performance of the succeeding APC governments, which he claims have disappointed many Nigerians.

Gana pointed out that the missteps of the APC-led administration have led many citizens to draw comparisons and now view Jonathan’s tenure more favorably. Addressing concerns about internal conflicts within the PDP, Gana dismissed any talk of division, insisting that the party remains united, deeply rooted in grassroots support, and fully capable of reclaiming power in 2027.

He criticized the economic policies of the current administration, accusing them of driving away both local and foreign investors. According to him, poor economic management and the presence of unhelpful gatekeepers are deterring growth, despite Nigeria’s potential to be a hub for investment if proper strategies were adopted.
