LEAD Network Africa Hails Gov. Mbah’s 18-Month Leadership as Transformational in Enugu

Chief Chukwuma Okenwa, Executive Director of the Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Advocacy Network (LEAD Network) Africa, has praised the transformational governance of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State. Speaking in Enugu on Tuesday, Okenwa was reacting to the governor’s recent presentation at a town hall meeting themed “Governance Issues: The Journey So Far.” Highlighting the significant progress made in the past 18 months, Okenwa described the governor’s achievements in infrastructure development as a benchmark for sincere leadership.

Okenwa emphasized the governor’s remarkable accomplishment of delivering potable water to Enugu residents within six months of taking office. He noted that over 1,000 projects are currently underway across the state, making Enugu a hub of infrastructural development. He lauded the administration for ensuring that all 260 political wards, regardless of their remoteness, have at least two projects in progress or completed.

According to Okenwa, Governor Mbah has revived monumental projects abandoned for over 16 years, such as the International Conference Centre, Hotel Presidential, and the International Ultra-Modern Hospital. He also cited extensive road construction within the Enugu metropolis, the installation of solar-powered streetlights, and the development of rural link roads, which have bolstered security, commerce, and nightlife.

Additionally, Okenwa highlighted investments in education, healthcare, and transport, including new smart schools, primary healthcare centers, and commercial vehicle terminals in Enugu and Nsukka. The governor’s initiatives in land use transparency and opening the electricity market were also commended.

On security, Okenwa praised the provision of 100 new vehicles for the Distress Response Squad, installation of hi-tech surveillance cameras, and the establishment of a security command center. These efforts aim to make Enugu a safe and thriving destination for business and leisure.

Despite limited federal allocations and internally generated revenue, Okenwa expressed amazement at the state’s ability to execute these projects. He urged residents to support the governor’s vision, which includes growing Enugu’s economy from $4 million to $30 million within eight years. This transformational agenda, he concluded, is setting Enugu on a path to becoming a hub for health, commerce, tourism, and finance.
