May 29: Governor Ugwuanyi Inaugurates multiple projects in Nsukka

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State marked the successful end of his administration by inaugurating several landmark projects in the university town of Nsukka. The projects aim to equip and modernize Nsukka, the second largest city in the state.

The first-ever stadium in Enugu North Senatorial District, the 5,000-seat Nsukka Township Stadium, was officially inaugurated. The ultra-modern stadium, equipped with tartan tracks, astroturf for track and field competitions, floodlights, and other facilities, is expected to unlock opportunities for sports talent development among the youth in the district. Governor Ugwuanyi expressed his delight and congratulated the contractor, COPEN GROUP, for their quality and timely delivery. He also acknowledged the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure for their expert supervision.

Additionally, the Enugu State Secretariat Annex and the Nsukka Conference Centre, located adjacent to the State Secretariat Annex, were inaugurated. The Conference Centre boasts multiple halls for conferences and indoor sporting activities, including swimming pools and a lawn tennis court. Governor Ugwuanyi encouraged the people to make use of these facilities and enjoy the associated recreational benefits.

In fulfillment of the commitment to provide a conducive work environment for the Nsukka Correspondence Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Nsukka Press Centre was also inaugurated. This press centre complements the previously remodeled Enugu Press Centre for the NUJ, which was completed in 2022. Governor Ugwuanyi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to fulfill the promise and hoped that the press chapel would be inspired to recommit to vibrant and responsible journalism for the betterment of society.

The event witnessed the presence of various dignitaries, including the Member representing Nsukka East Constituency in the State House of Assembly, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, the Head of Service, former State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a former PDP Presidential Aspirant, the former Secretary to the State Government, the Chairman of Nsukka LGA, the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, the Deputy Chairman of Nsukka LGA, the former Commissioner for Housing, and other community leaders, clergymen, traditional rulers, youth, and women groups.
