NASC Appoints Andrew Ogbonnaya Nwoba as Senate Clerk, Announces Key Leadership Changes in National Assembly

The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has confirmed Andrew Ogbonnaya Nwoba as the new Clerk of the Senate, with his appointment taking effect on December 11, 2024. This decision, made during the Commission’s meeting on December 4, 2024, was announced in a statement issued by Emmanuel N. Anyigor, Deputy Director of Information. Nwoba takes over from Chinedu Francis Akubueze and previously served as Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning.

The NASC also approved several key appointments within the National Assembly’s administrative structure. Emmanuel Oda has been named Deputy Clerk (Administration) of the Senate, and Vivien N. Njemanze takes the same role for the House of Representatives. Dr. Obasi D. Ukoha steps into the position of Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning. Rawlings Agada, formerly Deputy Clerk (Administration) in the Senate, now serves as Deputy Clerk (Legislative) for the Senate, while Florence Kehinde A. has moved from her prior administrative role in the House to Deputy Clerk (Legislative).

Earlier appointments by the Commission include Ogundayo Mofoluwake Olufunmilayo as Secretary of the Directorate of Special Duties, Alkali Umar Abubakar as Secretary of the Directorate of Human Resources & Staff Development, and Essien Eyo Essien as Secretary of the Directorate of Zonal Liaison Offices.

These changes reflect NASC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the leadership and administrative efficiency of the National Assembly, ensuring a robust framework to support legislative activities and governance.
