NEW VICE CHANCELLOR APPOINTED FOR ESUT

Prof Aloysius-Michaels Nnabugwu Okolie has today, been appointed the vice chancellor of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT)

This appointment was made by the Governor Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi on Monday the 4th of April 2022.

Prof. Okolie who hails from Awgu town in Enugu State will from henceforth lead the 41-year old ESUT.

Okolie is a well refined professor of Political Science and International Relations at the renowned University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN).

He was the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Chairman of the local ASUU chapter at UNN.

In a statement made by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Simon Ortuanya.

He said.

“An unending leadership succession crisis hitherto engulfed ESUT, thereby forcing government to appoint a VC that overstayed his temporay appointment.

“Prof Charles Eze, appointed VC in acting role in May 2020, stayed on for two years, violating extant rules.

“Last year, Enugu Government also called on Okolie to Chair the Governing Council of Enugu State College of Education, (Technical).

“He is a renowned international Scholar and Researcher with over one hundred and eight (108) publications to his credit.

“Professor Okolie belongs to several national and international scholarly and professional Associations and has served in several national and international Committees

The statement by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government made great the many academic and managerial experiences that makes Prof. Okolie the right man for the position.

It is believed that this appointment all the way from UNN will bring to a halt the incessant battle and clamor for this position among the ESUT professors.

According to prof. Ortuanya, It is also important to note that Prof. Okolie is also trained in the management of higher institutions.
In other words, Prof. Okolie will put to good use his years of experience in handling the affairs of the University.
