The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the closure of sales for presidential expression of interest forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
However, the party extended the deadline for aspirants seeking governorship, National Assembly, and State Assembly positions, moving it from May 17 to May 24.
This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Enekweizu.
According to the statement, screening of aspirants who have already purchased and completed their expression of interest forms will commence on Tuesday and conclude on May 26.
The party further stated that the collection and submission of nomination forms for candidates who pass the screening exercise will also run from May 26, with no additional extensions to be granted.
It urged all aspirants to strictly adhere to the timetable and participate in the screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated centres nationwide. Candidates are required to present relevant documents, including academic certificates, birth records or age declarations, passport photographs, voter identification cards, party membership cards, and curriculum vitae, with all documents submitted in six copies.
The NDC explained that the screening process will be guided by voter interests, regional considerations, competence, character, and local dynamics.
It also noted that its affirmative action policy will give consideration to women, young people, and persons with disabilities during the evaluation process.
The party encouraged aspirants to pursue consensus arrangements where possible, stressing that only those who successfully pass screening will be eligible to obtain nomination forms.
