Obasanjo Urges Adeleke to Continue Delivering Good Governance to Osun

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to sustain good governance and continue delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

Obasanjo gave the charge during a surprise congratulatory visit to Adeleke at his residence in Ede on Sunday, following the governor’s victory in Saturday’s governorship election.

According to a statement issued by Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the former president was accompanied by Oyewole Fasawe and was received by the governor, who expressed gratitude to God for the outcome of the election.

The statement quoted Obasanjo as praying for further success for Adeleke and urging him to remain focused on meeting the needs of the people.

“Continue to deliver good governance. Continue to meet the needs of your people,” Obasanjo told the governor.

Responding, Adeleke expressed surprise and appreciation for the former president’s visit, thanking God and the people of Osun State for the electoral victory.

“Baba, I thank you for this surprise visit. I promise never to disappoint God, the Osun people and all lovers of democracy who made our victory possible,” Adeleke said.

The statement added that the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, accompanied Adeleke in receiving the former Nigerian leader.

Adeleke was declared winner of the governorship election by the State Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday.

The governor polled 511,067 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Oyebamiji, who secured 444,815 votes.
