PDP in Our Blood – Oruruo Says Mbah Excelled Before APC Move

—- Urges political actors to prioritise service delivery over party differences in order to consolidate the gains already made in Enugu State.

The Enugu State Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Steve Oruruo made this known while speaking on the topic “ The Future of PDP in Enugu State,” on the programme, Beyond the Headlines on Freedom Square TV, anchored by Uchenna Cyril Anioke.

Barrister Oruruo lauded Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for what he described as an impressive performance and the successful rejuvenation of moribund projects, noting that these achievements were recorded before his move to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oruruo attributed the governor’s developmental strides to the strong acceptance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South East, describing the party’s popularity as deeply ingrained among the people.

According to him, “today under the watch of PDP, Governor Mbah performed excellently well. He has left legacies, monuments and rejuvenated all moribund infrastructures, companies that the Old Eastern Nigeria can proudly boast of. But that was under the PDP, that is the trajectory of PDP, that is the brilliance, that is the excellence and candle of what PDP is known for. That is the scintillating performance we have done over the years. It was a consolidation of good performances chunned out over the years by other administrations. So this is the story of PDP and that is why it is so much accepted by the people of South East as if it runs in their blood. Today that we don’t have the governor of the PDP, judgments of his performance will now be limited for APC. But of all the good things, we can lay claims to that as PDP, that we produced the governor, watched over him and produced a very dividend of democracy that touched the lives of people.

He noted that during that period, Governor Mbah demonstrated decisive leadership by reviving abandoned projects and injecting new life into critical sectors of the state’s development, thereby restoring confidence in government.

Oruruo stressed that the PDP’s longstanding dominance in the South East has been built on a culture of people oriented governance, which provided a solid platform for performance and accountability.

He therefore added that sustained development in the region depends on leadership that understands the aspirations of the people.
