The apex Igbo socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has described the just concluded Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primaries that threw up former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its 2023 presidential candidate as corrupt and erratic.
Ohaneze’s reaction to Atiku’s emergence as PDP’s flag bearer is akin to numerous others that have condemned the party’s open shenanigans characterized by dishonesty, injustice, and alleged bribery of delegates.
Atiku had “defeated” other contenders including former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike; Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel; Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim; Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa and Diana Oliver Tariela.
Reacting to Atiku’s victory, Ohanaeze in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday through its Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said the PDP presidential candidate will never become Nigeria’s president.
Ohanaeze pointed out that the main opposition party had been reduced to a Northern party and therefore rejected Atiku’s candidacy because his emergence as PDP’s candidate was a plot by unpatriotic Northerners against the South.
