President Bola Tinubu has dismissed five ministers

President Bola Tinubu has dismissed five ministers: At a recent Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu, the government decided to abolish the Ministries of Niger Delta Development and Sports Development. This major restructuring was announced by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s special adviser on information and strategy.

The government will establish a new Ministry of Regional Development, which will oversee various regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, and North East Development Commission. In addition, the responsibilities of the Ministry of Sports will be transferred to the National Sports Commission, effectively replacing the ministry’s role.

  • Lola Ade-John – Minister of Tourism
  • Prof Tahir Mamman SAN OON – Minister of Education
  • Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo – Minister of State Housinf and Urban Development
  • Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim – Minister of Youth Development

  • Dr Nentawe Yilwatda – Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction
  • Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi – Minister of Labour & Employment
  • Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu – Minister of State Foreign Affairs
  • Dr Jumoke Oduwole – Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment (Trade and Investment)
  • Idi Mukhtar Maiha – Ministry of Livestock Development
  • Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata – Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development
  • Suwaiba Said Ahmad PhD – Minister of State Education

Ministers that President Tinubu reassigned

Some ministers that were in the current administration also reassigned to new position

  • Hon Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu Minister of State for Education is now the new Minister of State Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction
  • Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa Minister State for Health is now Minister of Education
  • Barr. Bello Muhammad Goronyo formerly Minister of State, Water Resources and Sanitation gets Minister of State Works
  • Hon. Abubakar Momoh who was Minister of Niger Delta Development is now Minister of Regional Development
  • Uba Maigari Ahmadu formerly Minister of State Steel Development will now function as Minister of State Regional Development
  • Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment is now become Minister of State Finance
  • Sen. John Enoh who was Minister of Sports Development which president scrapped, will now function as Minister of State Trade and Investment [Industry]
  • Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim who functions as Minister of State, Police Affairs gets Minister of Women Affairs
  • Ayodele Olawande Minister of State for Youth Development is now Minister for Youth Development
  • Dr. Salako Iziaq Adekunle Adeboye formerly Minister of State, Environment is now Minister of State, Health

The FEC also approved a merger between the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy. The Minister of Sports Development, John Owan Enoh, who previously represented the Cross River Central Senatorial District, and Engr. Abubakar E. Momoh, who was in charge of the Ministry of Niger Delta Development, will no longer lead their respective ministries following the dissolution. Additionally, Mrs. Lola Ade-John, the Minister of Tourism, was relieved of her duties, with her portfolio being integrated into the Ministry of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, currently led by Hannatu Musa Musawa. These changes signal a significant overhaul in Nigeria’s ministerial structure.
